We walked with Beth and Steve Pipe on the “Brewers Loop” as they write their new book
The Lake District scenery and our famous Cumbrian beers are the dream combination. Is it any wonder Beth Pipe and her husband Steve are writing a book about them?
The couple set off on the 23rd of June on their 18 day 138 mile hike, visiting as many breweries and microbreweries around Cumbria as possible- and carrying with them an empty cask!
Beth is the author of the best selling book “Gin, Cake and Rucksacks” which involved her sampling various gins and distillaries as they walked around the lakes.
This time, it’s beer! Which is where we came in. Our directors Emily and Jodi walked with the pair from Whitehaven to St Bees on Saturday as they talked about all things brewing and beer business.
After they finished walking the 7 miles from Whitehaven Harbour to St Bees (in the scorching sunshine) they came back to The Brewery Tap for a well deserved break and a beer.
The couple are raising money for the Lake District Search and Mountain Rescue Association (LDSAMRA). They chose the charity as they’re very often out in the hills and even though they don’t personally expect to need their help, they know how quickly and easily things can go wrong for people when walking and climbing.
We loved chatting with Beth and Steve and learning about their latest book and all the money that they’ve raised for the charity so far. We wish them all the luck in the world getting to the end of their adventure- not long to go!
